COVID-19: AN UPDATE FROM AGDA

2020 has not started out like we expected.

First and foremost, everyone at AGDA hopes this email finds you and your family safe and healthy. COVID-19 is impacting us all and these are extraordinary times.

Along with postponing all events and face-to-face council meetings, we’ve made the decision today to slow down our AGDA national operations for the next few weeks.

We’re a community focused, not for profit organisation. And as you know, Nic, Anita, Steve, and Margaret are the absolute heart of our organisation. For years they’ve gone above and beyond for AGDA and at this time it’s important we support them to be with their families.

This does not mean AGDA is going away! In the background, we’ll be using this time to reset and get back to our core reason for being – To support and advocate for the positive impact of design on business and culture. We’re already exploring ways to best support and champion our community – to better connect, to increase member value, and to set us up for what is looking to be a new world for all.

Our first step - AGDA State Chairs, led by our Vic Chair Anthony Wymond, IGNITE Founder & Creative Director, have developed ‘Australian creatives in need of work’ http://bit.ly/australian-creatives, a spreadsheet giving all creatives that’ve found themselves out of, or short on work, an opportunity to list their contact details. We encourage you to share it far and wide!!

Thank you, as always for supporting us with your membership. If you have any questions, ideas, or are keen to be involved – email me at [email protected]

And for COVID-19 advice, there are more great tips on what you can do on this website - https://staythefuckhome.com/ (h/t Anthony Wymond).

Look forward to seeing you on the other side.Best wishes on behalf of all of AGDA, Adele

Many thanks to Andrew Ashton for the image.

Portrait of Adele Tarnawski

Adele Tarnawski

My entire career has and always will be focused on people. I’ve spent over 10 years in various roles helping companies with their employees and franchisees, their customers, and the public. Over this time I’ve amassed a bunch of skills and a fascination for behaviour change, brands, and coaxing talk into action.

I proudly represent The Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) as the President on the AGDA National Board.
